Rosemead High School senior Tammy Vien ran her personal best at the right time with a 9.0 seconds run in the girls 60 meter hurdles to win the California Winter High School Championship at Cerritos College on Feb. 13, 2016.
High school athletes competed unattached or with a club team, and the very few athletes from Rosemead Track Club who competed helped the club team finish 14th out of 72 girls teams.
Other Rosemead Track Club girls members had 14th place finishes in the sprint medley relay and the distance medley relay. In the sprint medley relay team members competed in 100 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters with Wendy Vu, Tram Vo, Tammy Vien and Jessica La running a team time of 1:58.57. In the distance medley relay, which includes 1,200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and 1,600 meters, Jessica Perez, Cassandra Chin, Virginia Avila and Leticia Zuniga ran 14:11.78.
In the boys competition, Jessie Gonzalez of Rosemead Track Club finished 14th with a time of 9:22.7 in the 3,000 meters run.
