City of Alhambra Veteran’s Memorial is being dedicated in a public ceremony at Alhambra Park, 500 N. Palm Ave., on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 9 a.m. The Alhambra Veteran’s Memorial will feature bronze medallions for each of the armed services and it is expected that veterans, from different services, organizations, and cities, will be in attendance on this special day. Special guests will be Congressman Adam Schiff, who helped secure $247,000 in federal funds for the project, and the members of the Alhambra American Legion Post #139 who have been involved in the project planning. Gilbert Aguero, Post 139’s Aide de Camp and Chaplain, is looking forward dto the dedication of the memorial, after working with city staff to nurse the project from the inception of the veteran’s memorial idea. The event will be open to the public.
