Monterey Park, CA— July 23, 2009 - The Monterey Park Rotary will demote president Enrique “Henry” Diaz, retired Monterey Park Postmaster, and install Dr. Jonathan Tam as the new president at a dinner Friday evening, July 31at 7:00 P.M. at the Monterey Hill Steakhouse, 3700 W. Ramona Blvd., Monterey Park.

This is Diaz’ second term as President and during that time the Monterey Park Rotary had its first successful Casino Night fundraiser and contributed to the City of Monterey Park’s 4th of July celebration, the Boys and Girls Club’s Thanksgiving Dinner, the City’s Crystal Youth celebration, the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, MERCI and an orphanage in Mexico. Members of Rotary contributed to the Rotary International’s Foundation.

The community can attend the demotion to celebrate Diaz’ accomplishments. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Dr. Jonathan Tam is a doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology with offices in Alhambra. Tam is a graduate of the University of Southern California, School of Medicine. In his 25 years of practice he delivered more than 15,000 babies.  He is now lecturing about staying healthy to the public. This year he wants to continue the mission of Rotary in serving our local communities with emphasis on basic skills like literacy and health.

Monterey Park Rotary usually meets every Thursday at 12:15 P.M. at Capital Seafood, 755 W. Garvey Avenue, Monterey Park.
