Located in Alhambra near downtown Los Angeles, and in Ontario, the heart of the Inland Empire, Platt College offers accelerated Associate and Bachelor degree programs in high-demand professions such as Graphic Design, Legal Services, and Medical Careers. The College’s two campuses have flexible morning and evening schedules designed for full-time students and working adults seeking a competitive edge in today’s challenging job market.

Platt College has served the Southern California community for over 20 years. Administrators attribute Platt’s success to a productive learning environment with state-of-the art facilities and equipment, and a curriculum that teaches the specific skills needed in actual job situations.  The faculty is composed primarily of working professionals who bring real world experience into the classroom. Students learn what it’s like “out there,” and can hit the ground running when hired. Assisted by Platt’s Career Placement staff, many find internships while still enrolled, followed by a job in their chosen field after graduation.

Platt is nationally accredited by ACCSCT, an accreditation agency recognized by the Department of Education, so qualified students are eligible for federal and state financial aid. Platt offers flexible class schedules, ongoing enrollments every five weeks throughout the year with no lengthy application process, and accelerated learning tracks for degree completion in less time than at a traditional university.

Platt’s Graphic Design students gain expertise with the latest versions of industry-standard tools from leading software vendors, including Adobe, Apple, and AutoDesk.  Equipment and curriculum are regularly updated to ensure the students are always on the cutting edge in the creative use of current technology. Upon graduation, they have a portfolio demonstrating professional skills they can show a prospective employer.

In the Graphic Design and Visual Communication programs, students develop expertise in color theory and typography, vector-based illustration and animation, and layout and publishing. The 3D Animation program covers the basics of video and game production. Life drawing with live models teaches students to capture the essence of movement and form in space, to bring life to the characters they develop in motion software.

The Web Design program focuses on dynamic web page design and the use of flash animation.

For those with an interest in law, the Paralegal Studies program teaches the skills needed to become a paralegal. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of paralegal jobs is expected to grow by over 26% through 2016. In 2007, more than 24,000 paralegals were employed in California, with almost 10,000 in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire area.

Platt Legal Studies classes cover key areas of law, including torts, criminal law, civil litigation, family law, and contracts. Through classes in law office procedures and law research and writing, students learn organizational, communication, investigative, and office management skills.  Platt’s law library, online law research tools, and mock trials provide the experience needed to be an effective paralegal from the very first day on the job.

To learn more about Platt College and its programs, prospective students are invited to visit and tour either campus, or call 1-888-78-PLATT.
