City of Alhambra will soon be dedicating its Gateway Plaza Monument, a huge arch-like structure that is built in the form of the city’s Moorish logo. It is nearly finished and is located at the northwest corner of Valley and Fremont streets, near the city’s southern boundary.

Built in the form of an arch, the structure reflects the Moorish architecture feature in the "Alhambra" a historic location in the Spanish City of Granada.

In addition to the Moorish style arch, there will be park seating, a walking path, and plantings of drought-tolerant palms and plants.

Over the past few years, Alhambra has undertaken a city beautification effort that has included landscaping and painting of city entrances. Freeway under passes below Interstate 10 has been redecorated using city logos and city colors. The city has made an effort to improve its image through the redecoration effort.

The city slogan is "Gateway to San Gabriel Valley. Alhambra is considered a full-service city with its own police, fire, library and water departments.
