ARCADIA, Calif., May 6, 2010 – Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia has just become a little more convenient for shoppers and mall employees.

April 8 marked the opening of a new Street Corner store at the mall, in the Promenade area. Street Corner sells many of the items not usually found in the mall environment – everything from cough drops to aspirin to bags of chips. All the things needed to sustain shoppers on an outing, or help mall workers get through their shifts.

Franchise owner Angela Chea, a resident of Monterey Park, opened the store to satisfy the needs of shoppers and employees, who are virtually a captive audience. “People can pull over while driving at any number of places to get the snacks and necessities they need as they go about their daily routines, but for some reason, that same convenience was lacking at the mall,” says Chea. “We hope to fill that need.”

The 300 square-foot Westfield Santa Anita Mall location is the 51st in the Street Corner chain, based in Topeka, Kan. The company has franchisee-owned stores or kiosks in 19 states. This is the fifth location in California. In addition to chips, candy and bottled drinks, the Westfield Santa Anita Mall Street Corner sells a variety of sundry items and over-the-counter remedies, cigarettes, and lottery tickets.
