However, through it all, I have been blessed with peace and hope in seeing how these events brought my family closer together. And so, in preparation for the New Year, I have decided to make a few resolutions. Have you started that process yet? I find that making resolutions can sometimes be pointless since they usually last to the end of January, and then when December comes around, we’ve forgotten what the resolutions were. To keep myself aware of my goals for the year, I plan to post them up where I know I will see them everyday. Additionally, I will need to find an accountability partner to check in with me regarding my progress. I don’t want to fool myself into setting too high an expectation, so I narrowed it down to 3 resolutions for 2010. Read the entire Bible – There are some great Bible-in-a-year schedules that I plan to use. Although I do attend Bible study regularly, I have yet to actually read it through from beginning to end, and I realize the importance of doing this as a testament to my faith. Schedule face-to-face time with family and friends – I have become an e-mail only person. With the two little boys, getting phone time or face-to-face time with family and friends has become difficult. I hope to get a chance to reconnect with others without having to be directed to a Facebook page. Reduce monthly spending – I have not yet determined a specific percentage, So that is it! My 3 resolutions for 2010! Pretty simple, and yet as I write this I see what I am trying most to accomplish – DISCIPLINE! I need to be more disciplined in how I spend my time and energy. Isn’t that what most resolutions require though? The reason why most are not consistent with keeping resolutions is because many of the actions require determination and discipline. In my case, I’m trying to establish more of a habit in my living, and habits take a while to settle into. I’ve heard it takes 21 days or more to make something a habit. However long it takes, the choice actions need to be a regular part of a routine. By scheduling specific times for me to attend to my above resolutions, I hope to have a greater success rate. I’ll have to let you know how it went this time next year. I wish you all a very Happy 2010 and pray that you had a wonderful Christmas!
