The council announced McIntyre's appointment following a special meeting where they interviewed four candidates in closed door sessions. McIntyre was introduced briefly at the regular council meeting Wednesday evening. McIntyre's contract calls for a pay of $150 per hour with his service beginning on March 22 and concluding in September. A search for a permanent City Manager will be undertaken during the period. McIntyre has extensive government experience "and comes highly recommended as a strong manager with exprience in all aspects of municipal government," according to a city press release He has served as town manager or city manager in several cities including Pasadena, Vallejo, Oak Park, and Los Gatos. Before McIntyre was appointed, Jim Smith, interim Police Chief served as acting city manager.
