Roberto Chavez, an East Los Angeles native, has an exhibition in the Vincent Price Art Museum titled "Roberto Chavez and The False University: A Retrospective".
The retrospective is the first of Chavez's in the L.A. area.
Chavez, an alumnus of UCLA and a former faculty member of East L.A. College, has more than 50 works of art in the exhibition that will span from the mid-1950s to the present. His works include self-portraits and portraits of friends and family.
Chavez also included works that detail the soci-economic climate of the working class.
The retrospective is on now through Dec. 6. The museum is located on the campus of ELAC and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and on Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m.
The museum is free and open to the public.
