Roy’s is celebrating its 20th anniversary by opening his 37th restaurant in Pasadena, CA. Chef Roy Yamaguchi blends European cuisine with ingredients found in the Pacific Rim. Roy’s has since become a staple for tourists visiting Hawaii.

Seafood is the name of the game at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine. Every night the menu features Roy’s Classics which appear on all the menus along with a selection of the most flavorful local Hawaiian fish.

For an appetizer I had Roy’s Wood Grilled Szechuan Spiced Baby Back Pork Ribs. WOW! The delicious ribs peeled off the bone. They were tender and smothered in a rich szechuan sauce. That ended in heated terry cloth towels to properly cleanse my messy hands. Highly recommend. I had Roy’s Classic Trio for my entrée, which included, Hibachi Grilled Salmon, Roy’s Original Blackened Island Ahi and Hawaiian Style Misoyaki Butterfish. My favorite of the three was the Butterfish, flaky, tender and not at all fish like. The entrée was more sushi style but only enough for one. To round out the amazing meal, I devoured Roy’s signature Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé. If you fancy chocolate this is divine. A rich, hot center molten lava cake with a touch of ice cream and a hint of raspberry sauce for décor. Roy's provides a full bar and extensive wine cellar. For those looking to host a large party gathering check out the banquet room that holds 75 people.

Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine is located at 641 E. Colorado Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91101. Valet parking is available for $7.00.

Price: $20-$30
