Perched at the top of the hill right off the 60 freeway, at the "T" of Walnut Grove Ave and San Gabriel Blvd. is Carrows Restaurant.

Don't mind the "kids eat free" sign, this eatery welcomes your office buddies or your family 24/7. Working at the office nearby last Saturday, my co-worker and I just need to grab a bite, and as a last minute choice we cut our journery short for Carrows. We both got salads and to be honest, we didn't know what to expect.

To my delight, slices of tender and juicy chicken on top a bed of fresh romaine, warmly roastd candid pecans, tomatoes, and a side of honey mustard dressing was exactly what I needed. You know when you keep scrapping through the scraps of greens for any missed bit of chicken - the salad met the mark.

I thought the early afternoon would mean fast service, but it also meant less staff, so it took a bit long for us to get our salads, though the place was parsly occupied.

That was actually my second time at Carrows and I was just as happy with the portion this time as before. Excepting for the seasonal menu, you can order lunch portions off nearly all the entres.

Backing up a bit... we took a moment to decide between breakfast, but us girls are trying to watch the waistline, so we opted for salads. But it was a challenging choice as the breakfast menu look so delicious. When you can have your eggs any way any time of day, sausage links or patty, waffles, french toasts and bacon - it calls for a serious choice. Next time, I might just go for breakfast morning or night.
