A male Asian was killed in this morning's officer-involved shooting. The man threatened police officers with a large carving knife, according to Lt. Dave Coleman from L.A. County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. The person was described as an Asian male, ages 25-30 years. According to press reports, he entered the police department lobby on First Street.
An Alhambra police officer approached the suspect, but he did not respond. Several police officers joined the confrontation and attempted to speak to the suspect in several languages. The individual suspect brandished the knife, and officers shot the man multiple times.
The shooting is still under investigation by the County Sheriff’s Department. The names of the officers involved have not been released.
The Alhambra Police Department lobby will be closed while the investigation continues.
