Alhambra City Council voted Monday in closed session to appoint Mary Swink as permanent city manager. She will be formally introduced at the next council meeting pending contract approval, according to City Attorney Joseph Montes who made the announcement following the closed session.
Swink was named interim city manager on Feb. 4 after former City Manager Julio Fuentes accepted a position in Santa Clara.
Swink has been with the city for 25 years and served as head of the departments of public works, community services, utilities and development services.
She will be the first female city manager in Alhambra's 109-year history.
The next regular meeting will be on Monday, August 26 at 5:30 pm in the Alhambra Civic Center Library.
