Alhambra reinstalled three incumbent council members to new 4-year terms although only one was opposed on the November ballot. Ceremonies were held Monday, Dec. 8.
Council members Luis Ayala and Barbara Messina were automatically re-elected without campaigning because they had no opposition in their districts.
Councilman Steven Sham was elected after defeating challenger Eric Sunada.
Councilwoman Messina said it would be her last term in office. She has served 19 years on the city council and eight years on the Alhambra School Board.
Officials from neighboring cities attended the meeting where the three incumbent council members were sworn in for new terms.
Monterey Park Mayor Pro-Tem Peter Chan and Council Member Teresa Real Sebastian spoke at the meeting to congratulate the re-elected council members.
