Alhambra Police Capture Burglary Suspects, K-9 Injured

  • By David Barron

Alhambra Police arrested three burglary suspects after going through a house-to-house chase and having a Police K9 injured. It all started on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at approximately 10:30 p.m., When the Alhambra Police Department received a call from a homeowner who said

that he was watching unknown subjects in his home, remotely via his home security phone app.
Alhambra Police Officers arrived within 30 seconds and began setting up a perimeter security area. A few moments later, three suspects exited the back door of the house and saw the officers in the area.
The subjects ran and a yard-to-yard search began. Several minutes later, officers located a suspect in a nearby garage and ordered him to surrender. When the suspect refused, a police K-9 was sent into the garage. The suspect then attacked the K-9 with a metal folding chair. A second K-9 was sent in and the suspect surrendered.
Alhambra Police Units, assisted by officers from San Gabriel, Monterey Park, San Marino, South Pasadena and Whittier Police Departments, along with Pasadena PD’s airship continued to search for the two outstanding suspects. At approximately 4 a.m., the two remaining suspects fled from a backyard near the corner of Geranio Drive and Shorb Street and were caught by officers.
One suspect received minor injuries from the police K-9 bite and a second suspect twisted his ankle while trying to flee. Both suspects received medical attention and were booked at the Alhambra jail. The third suspect was not injured. No officers or residents were reported injured. The Alhambra K-9 sustained injuries to his face and mouth but is expected to fully recover.
All three suspects will be charged with felony burglary and are scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court on Tuesday May 24, 2016.
Alhambra Police Detectives are investigating the possibility that this crew of burglars may have broken into other Alhambra homes in the last several weeks.
The suspects are identified as: Taveonne Davenport, 20 years old; Keith Vincent Wickware, 21 years old; Deonte Jerome Pinker, male, 18 years old,
The bail for all three suspects has been set at $50,000.
Booking photos will be available later today.
