Optimist to Honor Two as Friends of Youth

Two leading citizens of the West San Gabriel Valley will be honored as "Friends of Youth" for their years of dedicated to the children of the community, at a dinner scheduled Thursday, June 26.

Sponsored by the LAMP Optimist Club of Monterey Park, the dinner will honor Adele Andrade Stadler, member of the Alhambra Unified School District Board of Trustees and Winston Wu, Youth and Education Committee Chair for the Chinese American Citizens Alliance.

The duo will be honored at the LAMP Optimist Annual Friends of Youth Dinner to be held at the Empress Harbor Village Restaurant, 111 North Atlantic Blvd, (corner of Garvey Avenue.) in Monterey Park. The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by a 10 course gourmet dinner at 7 p.m.

"We are honoring these two citizens for their outstanding years of service to the youth of the community, said Sam Luk, president of the LAMP Optimist Club.

Many friends and associates of the two honorees are expected to be in attendance for the Friend of Youth Dinner. Proceeds for the event will go towards LAMP Optimist Youth Programs, including scholarships and the club's Childhood Cancer Campaign.

The club is seeking sponsors for Tickets for the dinner beginning with $800 for a "Doctorate Table," $750 for a Masters Table. and $500 for an Associates Table. Individual seating is available for $40 in advance and $50 at the door on the evening of the event.

LAMP Optimist is one of the oldest service clubs in Montery Park area having been founded in 1957. This year's activities have included sponsoring the Easter Egg Hunt at Monterey Park City Hall, children's game area at the Cherry Blossom festival and support of many community events for the youth.
