Rep. Chu honors businesses, volunteers

Congresswoman Judy Chu honored several local non-profit groups and long-term leaders including SGV Bike and Garvey School District leader Dolores Preciado at her annual “Diversities Awards“ event held in San Gabriel.
Dolores Preciado was honored for 45 years in education. She has spent most of her time with Garvey School District and is the current interim co-superintendent.
Bike SGV, an advocacy group was presented the “Building Bridges Award” By Rep Chu. Accepting the award was Vincent Chang, founder of the program and Jaime Hernandez, executive director of SGV Bike.
The event was held at the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge on August 2, 2014, with about 150 persons, mostly the award recipients and their supporters, in attendance.
Congresswoman Judy Chu presented the awards. State Senator Ed Hernandez, served as master of ceremonies.
Also honored were Aida Dimejian, business person of the year; Tim Cho, volunteer of the year with Rebuilding Together; Gamma Zeta Boule Foundation, non-profit of the year for the West San Gabriel Valley; Shepherd’s Pantry, non-profit of the year – East San Gabriel Valley; and Marsha Aizumi, community activist of the year for her work for the LGBT community.
