Local Cities will observe Veteran’s Day on Tuesday, November 11 with solemn ceremonies and patriotic demonstrations.
Most city halls, banks and post offices will be closed for the holiday.
In Monterey Park, the city will host joint ceremonies with American Legion Post 397 beginning at the traditional hour of 11 a.m. on the front lawn of city hall at 320 W. Newmark Avenue.
Veteran’s Day was originally called Armistice Day and celebrated the anniversary of the end of World War I.
Today, the event honors all military veterans, past and present who have served in the nation’s armed forces. Highlight of the Monterey Park observance will be the placement of a wreath at the city’s war memorials as well as patriotic music and speeches by local elected officials.
