West San Gabriel Valley joined the world in mourning the death of at least 123 victims of a terrorist attack that included Nohemi Gonzalez, 23, of El Monte. She was killed in a restaurant when terrorists struck Paris, France, last Friday.
She was one of 17 Cal State Long Beach Students studying abroad. The other 16 have been accounted for, according to press reports.
She was a junior studying design in France. According to the Pasadena Star News she was the only America victim identified so far to the terrorists attack. She was a student at Cal State Long Beach. The university will hold a vigil at 4 p.m. today at the University Student Union.
In a Facebook posting, El Monte Mayor Andre Quintero said the following:
" Nohemi Gonzalez was living life to the fullest, studying abroad doing what she loved. It breaks my heart that she was an innocent victim of senseless violence. I join with the entire El Monte community to mourn the loss of one of our own. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers."
