Cash Prizes Offered in Optimist Essay Contest

LAMP Optimist Club is offering cash prizes for its annual youth Essay Contest. Topic for this year's contest is "What the World Gains from Optimism."  Students must be under the age of 18 years as of Oct. 1, 2016 to enter the contest. The annual contest is designed to encourage thought and enthusiasm for living a life of optimism said Dave Barron, Contest Chair.

Scholarship prizes ranging from $75 to $2,500 are being offered to contest winners. LAMP Optimist Club is a service organization conducting civic and youth programs in Monterey Park and neighboring areas. Besides the Essay Contest, the club sponsors a speech contest, scholarships, holiday toy drive, and the annual city Easter Egg Hunt. The club is affiliated with Optimist International and 2000 clubs throughout the world.
