UPDATE: Monster Storm Strikes SG Valley

BREAKING NEWS: Monterey Park issued an advisory urginng residents to avoid Kingsford Street between Harding Avenue and Cadiz Street because of a street closure caused by a downed tree and utility lines.

A huge winter rain storm that is accompanied by strong winds is expected to dump three to four inches of rain as it passes over the western San Gabriel Valley communities of Monterey Park, Rosemead, Alhambra and Montebello. The storm began this Friday morning (Feb. 17) as predicted by weather broadcasters.

Montebello police announced that the intersection of Lincoln Avenue between San Gabriel Boulevard and Azalea Drive will be closed until further notice notice because of flooding. No rain related reports have been received from Monterey Park police or fire departments.

County wide, the Sheriff's department issued an alert regarding flooding and flash flood dangers in the foothill communities of Azusa, Duarte and Glendora. The storm is expected to continue through Saturday and ease up on Sunday.
