The cities of Monterey Park and Rosemead will hold Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 26, 10 a.m. at their respective City Halls. American Legion and local civic officials are scheduled to participate. Laying of wreaths at Memorial monuments will highlight the ceremonies.
The services are free and open to the public.
Monterey Park City Hall is located at 320 West Newmark Ave. Rosemead City Hall is situated at 8820 Valley Boulevard.
The ceremonies are expect to include the traditional play of “Taps” on a bugle and ringing of a naval bell in memory of those who have died while in uniform in the service of the country.
Services scheduled at Arcadia Park were cancelled because of inclement weather.
Memorial Day is a national holiday in honor of those who died in war. All public offices, including city, county, state and federal buildings will be closed. There will be no postal service.
