  • By SGV Journal

Assemblyman Mike Eng had the tables turned on him at the third annual Garvey Education Foundation Gala Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 8. Instead of handing out certificates as he often does, he was on the receiving end of a certificate as one of the honorees for the special event attended by nearly 200 parents, educators and supporters. Others recognized at the event held at the Garvey Community Center were Oliver Chi, Rosemead City Manager for cementing city-school relationships, along with Don Anderson, city director of public safety.

Also honored was Suzanne Coscarelli of the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) for over seeing distribution of free books to pupils at all the Garvey District Schools.
