Semi-official elections results for Monterey Park are now in and confirm the election of two incumbents and one challenger to the Monterey Park City Council.
City Clerk’s office today (3-11/15) counted the final 800 provisional and vote-by-mail ballots in the City Council Chambers.
Final results showed a surprising 19.4 % voter turnout – significantly higher than neighboring jurisdictions.
The final count is will be certified and presented to the city council at a Special Meeting on Tuesday, March 17.
Re-elected to office were Mitchell Ing with 25.6 percent of the vote; Teresa Real Sebastian with 23.7%; and Stephen Lam, 21.1%. Anthony Wong came in fourth place and lost his council seat with 19.5% of the votes cast.
Two other candidates, Delario Robinson and Joe Ray Avila, trailed far behind.
A total of 5,36 ballots were cast out of the 27,474 registered voters for a 19.4% voter response.
