How Hot? Enough to Open Cooling Center

  • By David Barron

How hot is it? Well, it’s hot enough to keep Langley Senior Center open this weekend (Saturday and Sunday (March 14-15, 2015)as a cooling center because the weatherman expects temperatures reaching 90 degrees in the San Gabriel Valley,.

You don’t have to be a senior to seek relief from the high temperatures at Langley center. The building located at 400 West Emerson Ave. will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a community cooling center.
People of all ages will have the opportunity to come into the air-conditioned center to escape the heat and utilize the drinking water and restroom facilities.
Other cooling centers may be available to Monterey Park residents. The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health also provides a list of other nearby community cooling centers on their website at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/index.htm.
For more information contact the center at 626-307-1395.
