A Monterey Park Police office was injured when he struck as a result of a car accident while issuing a citation for a traffic violation Monday morning (3/23/15) on South Atlantic Boulevard.
The officer was reported in stable condition at U.S.C-County Medical Center. The injured officer’s name was not released pending notification of his next-of-kin.
California Highway Patrol reported that a motorist traveling southbound on Atlantic Boulevard near El Repetto Street, was apparently distracted when she sneezed and hit the officer’s motorcycle which was parked behind the car where a citation was being written.
The motorcycle launched forward and struck the officer who in turn was pushed against another vehicle.
