At a special meeting tonight (2/15) Monterey Park City Council will discuss appointment of a city manager and potential salary to replace Paul Talbot, who retired last November. Ron Bow, city public works director has been serving as temporary city manager.
At the 6 p.m meeting in open session in city hall second floor conference room 266, Council members will first discuss appointing the City Attorney and the assistant City Attorney as labor negotiators for the city manager recruitment, according to the posted agenda.
In the second part of the meeting which will be in "closed session" -- closed to the public -- the city council may discuss appointing a city manager, and meet with the city attorneys group to give them directions on salary and terms of employment. No names of candidates for city manager were listed in the agenda, however, the agenda item suggests there is a candidate or candidates in mind.
The regular council meeting will follow at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers at city hall,320 W. Newmark Ave.
