Chan, Liang Re-elected; Measure LL Fails

Peter Chan and Hans Liang were re-elected to the Monterey Park City Council in unofficial final results of balloting for the Tuesday, March 7 (2017.) Municipal Election. Library Measure LL while heavily supported by the majority of voters, failed to receive the required two-thirds super majority required of tax measures.

Chan received 26.89% of the votes cast and Liang, 23.49% in unofficial final results released by the County Registrar-Recorder. Trailing closely was Margaret Leung with 19.42% , Randall Avila, 16.29% of the votes; Anthony Felix, Jr. 8.61% and Joe Ray Avila 4.29%

Library Measure LL, an extension of a $25 per year parcel tax on homes, received 58.13% Yes votes and 41.87% No votes. The measure required 67% Yes votes to pass.
