Monterey Park will interview a candidate for the vacant city manager job when it holds a special closed meeting on Monday, July 17, at 6 p.m. to interview a "City Manager Candidate. Currently, Ron Bow, former Public Works Director, is filling the position of interim city manager. The name of the candidate was not announced in the Council Agenda issued Friday, July 14.
The meeting will be held in Room 266, a second floor conference room, where the council holds special meetings and closed door sessions. Besides the five council members, only a representative of the City Attorney's Office will be present. The agenda, however, lists Oral and Written Communications,indicating the public will be able to attend the start of the meeting until the closed session begins.
The city manager position, the highest paid in the city, has been vacant since Paul Talbot resigned. At that time, Bow, who also served as assistant city manager, was appointed Interim City Manager. Bow, however, has two close relatives who work in city hall, and may not be eligible to serve in the position.
