Bees Attack People at Ralph's Market

A swarm of bees attacked people on Saturday, Sept. 16. at the 300 block of North Atlantic Boulevard next to the Ralphs Market.  The swarm of bees stung shoppers and one fire fighter. The call came into city dispatchers just before 5 p.m.

Monterey Park Batallian Chief Mark Kail told the media that said several people were attacked, including two women who were complely covered with bees. Police blocked off traffic from entering the market parking lot where a behive was discovered in a nearby tree. KTLA, Ch. 5 reported at a todal of five people were stung by the bees.

Firefighters used foam to subdue the bees.
