Before a crowd of nearly 200 residents and well-wishers, Rosemead Councilwoman Polly Low was sworn in mayor of Rosemead tonight (Tues. April 9, 2013). This is the first time as mayor for Low who was first elected to the city council in 2007.
Presiding over the ceremonial swearing-in was Juaquin Lim, councilman from the city of Walnut.
On the same night, Councilman Bill Alarcon was sworn in as Mayor Pro Tem.
Low thanked her fellow council members for their support in confirming her as mayor. She gave a brief speech describing her goals of making Rosemead the “best city in San Gabriel Valley.”
Also attending the even were council members from neighboring cities.
Low is and engineer and has worked in the aerospace industry for over 20 year . She is currently employed by Ratheon as a Software Engineering Manager. She received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her master’s degree in computer science from Loyola Marymount University.
She grew up in Porterville, California and moved to southern California to attend college.
Mrs. Low has been married to her husband Ving for 20 years. They have three children, Kevin, Matthew and Kristi.
