5-K Kicks off Rosemead Independence Day Events

5-Krun-Walk Runners and walkers will open up the celebration of USA’s Independence Day on July 4 by participating, volunteering or donating to Rosemead 5K, Kids Fun Run and Tot Trot, announced volunteer Race Director Israel Estrada.

Day long celebrations will include events at Rosemead Park, Parade on City Streets and fireworks in the evening.
 Participants will get an early start as the 5K start will be at 7 a.m. so the weather is cooler for the participants, followed by the Kids Fun Run at 8 a.m. and Tot Trot at 8:15 a.m.
Veterans who have served the USA and attend California State University at Los Angeles (CSULA) will benefit as profits from the event will go towards scholarships for student veterans at CSULA.
The course will start in front of Rosemead City Hall on Valley Boulevard, go east two blocks to Rosemead Boulevard, south a few blocks to Marshal, east to Rio Hondo, north to Valley Boulevard, west on Mission Drive three blocks to Rosemead Park, north on Encinita Avenue past the park and Encinita Elementary School, west on Lower Azusa Avenue, south on Rosemead Boulevard past Rosemead High School and a little past Valley Boulevard, loop back to Valley Boulevard, then west on Valley to the start/finish area in front of City Hall.
City of Rosemead’s Annual July 4 Parade follows at 10 a.m. along Valley Boulevard and travels north on Loma to Rosemead Park. In the afternoon at Rosemead Park there will be music, games and carnival rides and professional fireworks at night. There is free admission to the park and fireworks show, and free parking on nearby streets.
