Lauren K. Gold, a reporter for a Pasadena area newspaper, has been named as the Management Assistant/Public Information Officer for the city of San Gabriel.
“Lauren brings skills in both traditional and digital media,” said City Manager Steve Preston. in a city press release.
“Those skills are increasingly important as we find new and better ways to communicate with our residents, businesses and community organizations. We are excited to have an individual of Lauren’s caliber join our organization.”
Gold has been a cityside reporter at the Pasadena Star News since 2011, covering several San Gabriel Valley communities. Prior to joining the Star-News, Gold was a writer for the Webb Schools in Claremont. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon
During her college career Ms. Gold edited The Collegian, the Willammette University weekly newspaper, and interned at The Statesman Journal in Salem.
With a minor in Spanish, Gold has worked at the Santiago Times in Santiago, Chile and conducted her overseas studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Valparaíso, Chile.
"I am thrilled to continue my work with the amazing city of San Gabriel in this new capacity," Gold said in the press release.
Gold will assume her city duties on December 15.
