San Gabriel is teaming up with the nonprofit group Amigos De Los Rios, for a second community meeting on Jan. 26 to give residents a chance to share their thoughts on the city’s parks and recreation needs.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Community Health Education Center, 261 S Junipero Serra Drive in San Gabriel. For more information on the Park Needs Assessment, visit www.lacountyparkneeds.org.
The meeting is part of the Los Angeles Countywide Comprehensive Park & Recreation Needs Assessment. At the meeting, attendees and presenters will go over the current parks and recreation infrastructure in San Gabriel and discuss potential improvements. Residents can also share which park projects are most important to them. This is the second community meeting the city has held, with the first one back in December.
The purpose of the Park Needs Assessment will identify future opportunities for parks and recreation throughout the county and assist the city in future planning. The Assessment could also influence future funding decisions at the local level and be used to leverage federal and state resources. The assessment is scheduled to be completed by May 2016.
