While the three incumbents in the Montebello Unified School District board were re-elected, at least one Montebello city council person lost a re-election bid in Tuesday's, Nov. 3, 2009 consolidated election. Less than 10% of the voters cast ballots in the election locally.

 

Balloting in Tuesdays (Nov. 3, 09) election saw incumbent MUSD school board members Hector Chacon, Edwin Chau and Gerri Guzman re-elected.

The next nearest school board candidate was Carlos Illingworth who trailed by more than 600 votes. Coming in last was Marylou Saavedra. The school district serves Montebello, parts of south Monterey Park and several cities in the Southeast area.

Montebello city council race resulted in longtime councilman Bill Molinari being re-elected. Two new council persons were elected: Art Barajas and Frank Gomez. Incumbent Rosie Vasquez los her relection bid. Councilwman Mary Anne Saucedo-Rodriguez did not seek re-election.

100% of precincts reporting (three positions)

Hector Chacon, 5490 votes (27.4%)

Edwin Chau, 4,913 votes (24.2%)

Gerri Guzman, 4,306 votes (21.21%

CM Illingworth, 3,651 (17.98%)

Marylou Saavedra, 1,945 votes (9.58%)

Jamshid Javaheri, 1,213 votes (8.43%)

Jorge Manzur, 1,143 votes (7.95%)

Richard Garcia, 651 votes (4.53%)
