2,652 To Become New Citizens at Local Hotel

Southern California will welcome 2,652 new U.S. citizens during three ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at the Quiet Cannon Country Club in Montebello.

The candidates, lawful permanent residents who have met all the requirements for citizenship, represent more than 110 countries. Candidates representing most branches of the Armed Forces will also be among those taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Candidates representing most Branches of the Armed Forces will also be among those taking the Oath of Allegiance.The top ten countries represented at Friday’s ceremonies will be: 1) Mexico; 2) El Salvador; 3) Philippines; 4) Iran; 5) China; 6) Guatemala; 7) Korea; 8) Armenia; 9) Vietnam; and 10) India. These monthly naturalization ceremonies highlight Los Angeles District Office 23’s successful efforts to process thousands of lawful permanent residents to become citizens of the United States of America.

During Fiscal Year 2012, nearly 96,000 candidates for citizenship became naturalized U.S. citizens in USCIS District 23 which covers the seven counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
