Monterey Park will celebrate the start of the Holiday Season with a Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 2nd at 6 p.m., followed by the annual Holiday Sing featuring children from throughout the community in the City Council Chambers.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place in front of City Hall (320 W. Newmark Avenue) with Santa Claus arriving by Fire Truck to conduct the ceremony to light the tree. Participants will sing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and other seasonal favorites before being invited inside for the annual Holiday Sing and an opportunity to tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

This year’s ‘Sing’ will feature performances by Rice Elementary School Choir, Garvey Intermediate School Choir, Mark Keppel High School Aztec Singers and the Schurr High School Pep Band.

Refreshments for the event are being provided by the Monterey Park Sister Cities Commission, and are being served by the Youth Advisory Board, with the Monterey Park Art & Culture Commission taking ‘Santa pictures.’

For more information, call the Recreation & Community Services Department at (626) 307-1388.
