MONTEREY PARK - A Kids Patriotic Parade will be held today, July 4th, at Barnes Park as part of the celebration of Independence day. All children on strollers, wagons, tricycles, and even walking are invited by the sponsoring LAMP Optimist Club to participate free of charge.

Kids can even walk in the parade. Parents are welcomed to walk with their children.

All units will be decorated by members of the LAMP Optimist Club and volunteers from Mark Keppel High School. Parents can also help out.

Decorations will start at about 3:30 p.m. in the covered picnic area at the southwest corner of Barnes Park. Shortly after 4 p.m. the children in their decorated units will parade round the baseball field in the walking path.

The parade will terminate at the park amphitheater where the children will walk up the stage and then pose briefly for pictures.

The LAMP Optimist Club is dedicated to serving the youth of community.
