Funeral services were held last week for Eliseo βLeeβ Frias, 89, a Rosemead resident who passed away recently. Lee was born in Los Angeles on November 18,1920 and was one of nine sons of Federico and Elisa Frias of East Los Angeles. Eight sons served in the U.S. military in World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Mary; granddaughter Judy Parry; two great grand children; and a brother, Henry. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Lee served during World War II and participated in several battles with the 35dth U.S. Army Regiment. In stories to his children and nephews, he recalled seeing General George Patten on one occasion in the battle lines. He was also with the first U.S. troops to reach Germany and free Jews held in concentration camps. Following the War, he was employed by the L.A. Department of Water and Power.
