ROSEMEAD - A bit more than a thousand people attended Rosemead's National Night Out and Emergency Preparedness Fair Tuesday night at Zapopan Park on Garvey Avenue.

The fair came complete with crime prevention information, a fire prevention program, emergency preparedness vendors and even a rabies clinic for everyone's four-legged furry friends.

There was also food, entertainment, kids' activities and fire and safety demonstrations, said Mandy Wong, public safety coordinator for the city of Rosemead.

"This is important because we are here to acknowledge and appreciate everybody that helps keep our community safe," Wong said. "I hope the people take home the importance of community networking and the importance of preparing for an emergency."

Rosemead City Manager Jeff Allred agreed.

"We're celebrating public safety, which is the city's number one priority, the safety of its residents," Allred said. "This is a national night out. It's happening all across the county."
