| 9-11 Artifact to Arrive in Rosemead |

ROSEMEAD, August 14 -- An artifact from New York's World Trade Center, destroyed by terrorists on September 11, 2001, will arrive in Rosemead Monday, August 16, at 2:30 p.m. The city is inviting residents and interested persons to witness the delivery of the 14-foot beam from New York by truck at Rosemead Park, 4343 Encinita Avenue. The artifact will be incorporated into a sculpture that is be installed next year at Rosemead City Hall. "The sculputure is our community's opportunity to show the nation that we have not forgotten about the events that took place on September 11, 2001. The impact of September 11 was universal. Americans from 25 states and citizens of more than 100 countries were victims of the attacked," a city spokes person stated in a press release. The beam will be incorporated into a steel sculpture that will memorialize the Twin Towers and pay tribute to the victims and emergency personnel who died at the scene. The city has also launched a donor program to raise funds for the memorials. On this year's anniversary on September 11, the city is hosting a "Run for the Memorial, include a 5k and 10k runs and a 1-mile run/walk. The memorial sculpture is expected to be completed and unveiled on the tenth anniversary of the attack on September 11, 2011.
