Army National Guard Lt. Col. Roland C. Gonzalez has been mobilized and activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operation New Dawn in the Iraqi Theater of Operations or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the Southwest Theater of Operations. The soldier is a member of the 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, based out of Phoenix, Ariz. The lieutenant colonel is a field artillery team leader with 25 years of military service. His father, Mauro R. Gonzalez, resides on E. Highpine St., South San Gabriel, Calif. Gonzalez graduated in 1981 from Don Bosco Technical High School, Rosemead, Calif., and received a bachelor’s degree in the year 2000 from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff.
