San Gabriel - Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 -- San Gabriel Mayor Albert Huang was arrested early today after he was involved in an alternation with an unidentified woman. Press reports said that Huang was involved in an early-morning argument with a woman at at West Valley Boulevard dumpling house. This led to the arrest of the mayor on suspicion of felony robbery and assault and battery, according to press reports. The Pasadena Star-News reported that Huang issued an email statement as follows: "As a public official and a former Boy Scout, I hold myself to the highest standard of conduct.On last night's incident, it was a great misunderstanding between friends. As a result, I am confident I will restore my innocence in court." Huan was released on $100,000 bail later in the morning.. According to news reports, the incident began in a restaurant and escalated to the street. Police said he took a woman's purse and sped down a residential street with her cllinging to the side of his sport utility vehicle.The woman, whose name was not released, was not injured, police said. Huang is married and has a daughter. He is a developer and a professional architect.
