PREP SPORTS: Rosemead HS Boys Tennis Is CIF Div. 5 Championship Runner Up Team


  Rosemead High School boys varsity tennis team enjoyed its best week of competition ever as on Monday, May 16, 2016 Rosemead's Panthers upset number 2 ranked Beaumont 13-5 in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 Playoffs , on Wednesday, upset number 3 ranked Downey 10-8 in the semi-finals, and, on Friday playing in its first ever CIF tennis championship match, Rosemead lost 11-7 to number one ranked Heritage at Claremont Tennis Club and finished as championship runner up.


  Winning games for Rosemead in the CIF Championship match in singles were  Eric Thai two games, Quyen Hoang one game, and in doubles, Rosemead winners were Hung Tran and Lawrence Sun, two games, Kenny Luu and John Szeto, one game and Jacky Chen and Grand Huynh one game. It was the closest score a team had losing to the champion Heritage team.

 Other Rosemead team members include Jonathan Thai, Darin Sun, Alex Chea, and Giovani Chino, announced Rosemead Head Coach Gary Ward. Rosemead finished the season 15-6 overall and earned its fourth straight Mission Valley League Championship.
