Partridge Finishes Second In Gritty Race

  • By Shel Segal
IRWINDALE - Ryan Partridge of Rancho Cucamonga finished in second place in the NASCAR King Taco Truck Series race Saturday night behind points leader Connor Cantrell of Valencia at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.
The loss comes two weeks after Partridge narrowly missed defeating Cantrell, losing by 0.042 seconds on Aug. 13.
"It was a tough, gritty race," Partridge said. "It's not the way I like to race and I am not happy with the outcome as I don't like to lose. But there are more races left in the season."
Partridge - the 2010 champion - is trailing Cantrell in the points race by more than just a few digits now and knows losing to him Saturday night is making catching him even more difficult.
"This just happens to be the guy we cannot afford to be losing to if we are to repeat as champions," Partridge said. "It's like chasing the first place team in baseball and losing a four-game series to them late in September. But I still believe if anyone can overcome this, it's our team."
