IRWINDALE -- "We are very proud of all of our service members, whether on active duty, in the reserves or retired," Irwindale Speedway President/Chief Executive Officer Jim Cohan said. Irwindale Raceway will admit for free all veterans with proof of ID on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, for an action-packed NASCAR Fall Spectacular event, says Irwindale Speedway Spokesperson Doug Stokes.
Cohan said, "giving free admission to veterans is our small way of thanking them for what they do and what they sacrifice for our country."
Stokes said the night promises to be action-packed with NASCAR LKQ Pick Your Part Late Model 100-laps main event that has a $5,000 prize for the winner. Stokes said a number of entries are expected from all over the state.
Two other divisions are on the schedule for Saturday night with championships to be decided: the Sharky's Spec Late Models and also Jan's Towing INEX Legend Cars 100-point finale. Both races have close points margins among the leaders.
Stokes said, "the very popular family-friendly On Track Autograph Session with autographs and photographs with drivers and cars allowed is always a highlight for fans. and the drivers. Stokes said there might even be an opportunity to ask a driver to sit behind the wheel of a race car and get photographs. Generally the race track level view for fans actually on the track during the pre-race autograph/photographs session gives fans a personal perspective of what the drivers see.
Gates will open at 4 p.m., autographs/photographs on track will be at 5:45 and racing starts at 7 p.m., and "we have very reasonable prices for parking and admission, much lower than many other attractions in Southern California." stated Stokes.
