PREP SPORTS: Rosemead Tennis Wins 10-8 On Way to CIF Finals

    Rosemead High School broke open a 6-6 tie to win 10-8 against visiting Downey  in the CIF Southern Section boys varsity tennis division 5  semi-finals action Wednesday, May 18, 2016, on Rosemead's newly refinished tennis courts.


    Rosemead boys varsity tennis will play Heritage, which won the other semi-final 12-6 against Arroyo, at 2:30 p.m. in the championship game on Friday, May 20, at Claremont Tennis Club. It's either Rosemead's first appearance ever or in a long time to the championship match.

    Mark Keppel lost 10-8 to visiting Laguna Beach in Division 4 boys varsity tennis semi-finals.

    In other CIF Southern Section playoffs, in girls varsity softball, El Monte came from behind to defeat Lancaster by a score of 5-4 in a wild card game at El Monte.

    Among the first round scores for softball were

    St. Bonaventure 3  Alhambra 1

    Heritage Christian 6 El Monte 3

    Oxford Academy 11 San Gabriel Mission 0   

    Jurupa Hills 14  South El Monte 4

    Boys varsity baseball games scheduled for May 20 are

    South El Monte vs. Saddleback Valley Christian

    Cantwell Sacred Heart vs. Ontario.Christian

        In boys varsity baseball wild card games on May 18, Rosemead lost 15-5 at Campbell Hall.
