ROSEMEAD - 3/23/11 - It was just one of those games.
Panther starter Manuel Garcia was roughed up for 10 runs in three innings pitched as the Rosemead High baseball team got crushed by visiting Arroyo High, 11-0, in a rain-shortened, five-inning game on Wednesday.
Garcia gave up five runs in the first inning before getting control of the situation in the second.
However, things got out of hand again in the third as the Knights put another five runs on the board.
Friday's tough luck loser Ralph Garcia came in to restore order in the fourth inning, pitching two innings total while allowing just one run.
For the Knights, starting pitcher senior right hander Mark Roche was on his game despite, the wind, rain and cold. Roche pitched a complete game victory, striking out nine while allowing just two hits.
"Roche is a good pitcher," Rosemead coach Mike Salgado said after the game was called. "We hit the ball hard, but we made errors in the first inning. That's what hurt us. It's hard to come back from that."
