ROSEMEAD - 5/1/11 - It was a tough week recently for the Don Bosco Tech baseball team.
The Tigers went 1-3 at the St. Paul Tournament. The team defeated Cedar Park, Wash. High, 5-4, on April 23, but lost to Norwalk High, 10-7, on Monday, Ontario Christian, 7-2, on Tuesday and New Roads, 5-2, on Wednesday.
In fact, against Ontario Christian Don Bosco, leading 7-4, after six innings, gave up six runs in the top of the seventh to fall.
Tiger coach Rick Sherman blamed the losses on lack of experience.
"We're young," Sherman said. "The kids have to learn how to compete, how to finish. I think we lost like seven one-run games this year. That's not finishing."
Sherman said that youth issue will have to be worked out.
"Any team has problems here and there, but, overall, we're just young," he said. "We have some hope for the future, but they just have to learn how to win. They haven't won much at Bosco Tech. It takes time to learn how to win. We'll have to teach these guys. They're good kids."
