Gauthier now has a school career scoring record of  1,523 points. Aztec Samantha Lee scored seven 3 pointers to finish with 21 points in the Golden West Holiday Tournament victory Wednesday, Dec. 26. Lauren Saiki, scored 20 points and Alyson Lock, 12.

The Aztec team previously  won the Magnolia Park Optimist Club Tournament Championship.

MONTEREY PARK - Mark Keppel's girls basketball team put forth their high pressure, fast paced game Wednesday (2/20/13) easily defeating Santa Fe High, 69-15, in the second round of  Section Division 2AA playoffs.

The lady Aztecs took control of the game immediately in the first quarter jumping to a 30-4 lead. After that it was all more of the same.

Top scorers were LMU-bound Alyson Lock with 23 points, Samantha Lee, 15 on five 3-pointers, and Lauren Saiki, 10 points.

Mark Keppel will now advance to the quarter finals against either Thousand Oaks or Camarillo on Saturday.

MONTEREY PARK - Mark Keppel boys basketball team was knocked out of the Division 2AA playoffs Wednesday (Feb. 19) despite a herioc effort by Spenser Briglio.

Villa Park Spartans defeated the Aztecs 68-63.

Brigllio had a game-high 27 points and srored seven 3-pointers for Keppel. Overall Keppel made 12-3 pointers. Aztec Bailey Kikuchi, a sophmore, scored 16 points.

In other boys basketball action, Cantwell-SHM defeated St. Anthony, 62-58 in Division 4A playoffs.

Keppel Boys Basketball

The Keppel Aztecs boys basketball team (7-5) lost Thursday's home (Dec. 20) non-conference game against Temple City by a score of 55-50. Now the team is preparing for another non-conference game.

The Aztecs (7-5) will go against Monrovia (Monrovia, CA) on Thursday, Dec. 27, 7:30 p.m. (at Keppel). The Wildcats come into the non-league bout with a 2-9 record. In their last bout, Monrovia was edged by Charter Oak (Covina, CA), 53-38, in a non-league bout.

Aztec coach is Hung Duong.

Keppel Girls Basketball

The female Aztecs (8-2) hope to continue their winning ways when they play against Alemany on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at Alemany High located in Mission Hills in the West Coast Holiday Tournament.

The Keppel Aztecs womens’ basketball team won Saturday's neutral tournament game against Valencia by a score of 61-46.
The Aztecs are ranked 27th in the state and 133rd nationally. The Alemany Warriors have a 7-2 preseason record, so you can expect a tight competitive ball game.

The Keppel Aztecs basketball team won Tuesday's (Dec. 1) away non-conference game against South Pasadena by a score of 59-32.
Coach is Joe Kikuchi.


Rosemead Girls: Wednesday, December 26, 2012 @ 7 p.m. vs Louisville (Woodland Hills) at the Cantwell-SHM holiday tournament.
The female Panthers won Saturday's neutral tournament game against Glenn by a score of 75-32.

Rosemead Boys : Panthers basketball team lost Friday's home non-conference game against Bosco Tech by a score of 56-36.

MONTEREY PARK – Spencer Briglio scored 19 points to help Mark Keppel Aztecs defeat Santa Ana, 73-46, and move on to the next level of high school basketball playoffs.

Keppel will go to Villa Park High School Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m. for their next play off game.
Also scoring on Friday night (Feb. 15) were Bert Mak, 12 points, Kyler Lee, 10 points, Bailey Kikuchi, 9 points. Kikuchi also had 8 assists.

ROSEMEAD -- Rosemead High School varsity girls basketball team will begin post season playoffs Thursday (Feb. 14) after defeating El Monte 56-36 on Feb. 8, for its record 46th straight Mission Valley League victory.

Rosemead will host Nogales High School in the CIF Southern Section 3AAA playoffs Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Panthers gym.

Rosemead won its fifth straight MVL Championship and 10th in the past 12 years with Jay Gauthier Sr. as head coach.

The CIF-SS 3AAA 10th-ranked host Panthers improved their MVL record to 10-0 and overall record to 19-6. Visiting El Monte finished second in the league with an 8-2 record and has a 15-11 overall record.

Mission Valley League Champion Rosemead High School girl's basketball team led 23-9 at halftime and 36-21 in second half to improve to 20-7 overall. Junior guards Sydney Hua and Melody Gauthier led Rosemead with 13 points each, as Hua added nine steals and five assists and used deft ball-handling on the press, Gauthier added seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
